Sony HDW-F900 HD Camera - Overview

The Sony HDW-F900 high definition camera has been used in features, television programs, commercials, and music videos with increasing regularity since its inception. George Lucas, Robert Rodriguez, Oliver Stone, Michael Mann, and Robert Altman are among the feature directors who have used this camera. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, NYPD Blue, According to Jim, and The Bernie Mac Show are a few of over 100 network HD television programs currently on the air that are shot on the F900.
Why is this camera so dominant in a marketplace filled with HD cameras? There are several reasons. The F900, sometimes called the CineAlta, distinguishes itself from other HD camcorders by offering greater resolution, three 2/3" CCDs, a 1080 23.976 progressive frame mode (24P) which recreates the "film-look." The F900 also provides numerous menu settings to manipulate the image, allowing it to be part of a proven and economical post solution.
The Sony HDW-F900 camera is the first truly universal high definition camera. It is capable of shooting in various frame and field rates (23.9876P, 24P, 25P, 29.97i, 30P, 50i, 59.94i, and 60i) which satisfied both PAL and NTSC broadcasters. Its native aspect ratio is 16:9 or 1.77:1, but masks can be set within the camera menus in order to frame for 4:3 or 2.35:1. Its resolution is 1920x1080.
The 12-bit A/D converter and Advanced Digital Signal Processing (ADSP) provide adjustable gamma points in order to provide realistic tonal reproduction.
Paint menus allow the user to control white and black levels, saturation, hue, and detail. These menus can be manipulated to give an infinite number of "looks." If you hire a Digital Imaging Technician ("D.I.T.") you can basically do color correction in camera using the VIDEO LEVELS, USER MATRIX, and/or MULTI-MATRIX located within the PAINT menu.
If the director of photography is pleased with a certain look, the settings can be saved to a memory stick. The resulting scene file or "look" can be recalled instantly from the memory stick to any F900 camera at any point in the future. You can save up to 100 scene files in this Sony HD camera. All of our F900s have been updated with the latest (/3) firmware.
Sony HVR-Z1U HDV Camera - Overview
The HVR-Z1U HDV 1080 camcorder can record HDV, DVCAM and DV images at 60i, 50i, 30, 25 or 24 frames per second, in either SD or HD. This switchable 60/50 capability allows videographers to use just one camcorder to meet an array of client needs.
The new camcorder uses three Super HAD™, 1/3-inch, 16:9 native CCDs. Combined with a 12X Optical Zoom Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar® T* Lens and Sony's new 14 bit A/D with Digital Extended Processor (DXP), the HVR-Z1U's advanced design allows more light to reach each pixel in the imager, improving the signal-to-noise ratio and sensitivity.
In addition to high-quality image capabilities, the HVR-Z1U includes a complete inventory of features and capabilities that make the camcorder a truly professional production tool.
